Holiday weekends are usually light on the entertainment front, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything happening. There’s plenty going on, and here are some highlights of ways to spend your 3-day weekend and beyond.

Return to the 80s at Tower Theatre this weekend as they present Breakfast Club on the big screen. Friday and Saturday night at 11pm, Sunday at noon. Tickets are only $5 and there are special limited edition movie posters created by Allison Cornu. This is a part of the Summer of 35mm, and they have special films each weekend. Get some BBQ and roller derby action at Mountain Mayhem this Saturday, July 2nd. 2 female scrimmages and 2 co-ed scrimmages along with barbecue. $10 admission for spectators.

Saturday, July 2 is the 3rd Annual SLC Bar Crawl sponsored by IN This Week. Register at Green Pig Pub’s patio from noon-8pm. You’ll be provided t-shirts, lanyards, and information. Crawl groups will leave at 2, 4, 6 & 8pm. Join your fellow heathens to visit several bars and meet new people.

Liberty Park is always a popular hang-out on Independence Day, and this year they add on the Bula Celebration. An all-day celebration of laid-back reggae music, food, and of course fireworks. It’s free, and runs from 2pm until 10pm.

Know your baseball stats, players, & other random knowledge? Come to The Huddle on Tuesday, July 5 for the Geeks Who Drink Baseball Quiz. This special themed quiz is a $5 per player buy-in, winning team takes a cash prize from the pot! Quiz begins at 8pm, open to everyone. Have a team of up to 6, and $5 cash in each player’s hand.

Toad the Wet Sprocket has reunited with a new album, and are here in Salt Lake Thursday, July 7. The show is at Gallivan Center, 7pm, and tickets are $25. For more of July’s big upcoming shows, check out this post.

Get fit! Check out a great Weekday Workouts program at Gallivan Center Mondays-Thursdays from 5:15-6:15pm. Classes are open to the public, and free.
