As All Hallow’s Eve approaches, there is a definite chill in the air. Or perhaps, that’s just because it was 90 degrees last week, and 47 degrees today. We knew this time was coming, so let’s make the best of it. Put on your coats, and get ready for a couple kinds of chill this week, as we explore Around the SL,UT.

Want to get a real, hands-on kind of scare? Salt Lake City & Ogden Ghost Tours is the perfect answer. Live, guided bus tours around spooky locations with a storyteller filling you in on all the gruesome details. They will provide an evening of entertainment, and the tours begin tonight. Tickets are $18 per person, but for Friday & Saturday this weekend, all tickets are only $10. Get yours now, and enjoy these exciting tours.

Then, you may want to warm up a bit. Fortunately, it’s time for Squatters Oktoberfest. Friday and Saturday from 5pm-1am, enjoy music, german food, and beer. Your meal and keepsake beer mug are $20. 

Horror movies continue around town. This weekend, Tower Theatre is showing the classic Psycho. Friday and Saturday screenings are at 11pm, Sunday at noon, tickets are $5. Monday night, Brewvies is showing The Thing free at 10pm.

Fathom Thriller Thursdays are a cinema event being held at Cinemark theaters throughout the valley. Thursday, 7:30pm, see two new short horror films. Butterfinger the 13th is the story of a troubled young camper that disappears in a bizarre fire, leaving nothing but questions and dark legends of the Masked Butterfinger Butcher behind. Jack the Ripper: The Definitive Story, exposes the truth behind the legendary killer, including key evidence from Scotland Yard, as well as segments with forensic experts, criminologists and historians discussing why Britain’s favorite mass murder remains unsolved to this day. Tickets are $11.50.

If you need more of a laugh, head to The Off-Broadway Theatre for Dracula vs Jekyll & Hyde. A twisted tale about the crossing paths of the Count, and the bumbling Dr. Jekyll. The OBT shows are truly fun for all ages, and mix rehearsed theater with improvisation. Shows are Friday, Saturday, and Monday at 7:30pm, tickets are $16 ($8 Mondays).

K-Ute Radio is presenting National College Radio Day at Kilby Court this Tuesday, October 11. An all-day lineup of some of Utah’s best local musicians is available for only $7 for non-students, free for UofU students. Holy Water Buffalo, Small Town Sinners, General Harrison, and many more are performing.

Good news everyone! The next Geeks Who Drink theme quiz is Futurama! It will take place Monday, November 14 at Devil’s Daughter. Entry is $5 per player, and this quiz should be huge. $200 or more cash prize is expected for first place. Get your team together now, and start watching all the episodes you can. Salt Lake City Ghost Tours

Halloween excitement begins this weekend with Salt Lake Ghost Tours.

Do you crave the paranormal? Do you want to know what goes bump in the night? Do you want to have the coolest date night or night out with friends? Take a ghost tour!

Each Friday and Saturday beginning October 7th, take a narrated bus tour of haunted spots throughout Salt Lake. Tours begin at 7 & 9pm, departing from behind the Rio Grand building at 300 south 500 west. Tickets are $18, but opening weekend tickets are available now for only $10.

Ogden tours are also available, with departures from Union Station every Friday and Saturday at 7 & 9pm. Tickets for Ogden tours here.
