It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Lights are being hung, traffic is crazy, and check-out lines at the stores are getting longer each day. But don’t let the madness of retail-mania take over your life. Take time to enjoy the company of your friends and fellow SL,UTs, and the great entertainment happening around us.

You have holiday shopping to do, and there are much better options than picking up some boring box of junk from a major retailer. The best collection of local artisans is this Sunday at Craft Sabbath. Great handmade gifts, clothing, art, and more available at the Salt Lake Main Library Sunday, December 4 and 11, from 1-5pm. Buy something unique this season.

It’s the season for Christmas Theatre, and what better tradition than The Nutcracker at Capital Theatre. The show plays throughout December, tickets range from $19-79. Check out ArtTix for availability and dates.

For laughs, The Off Broadway Theatre presents The Grouch Who Stole Christmas. The OBT performs original satirical plays that involve a great deal of improvisation, and always plenty of laughs. Shows are Friday, Saturday, and Monday at 7:30pm. Tickets are $16, and each Monday is 2-for-1 night.

Are you in the mood for a blue Christmas? You’re in luck, because the Blue Man Group is in town this coming week. Shows run from Tuesday, December 6-Sunday, December 11. The Blue Man Group is a unique blend of music, art, stunts, and pantomime unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Everyone should see them. Tickets range from $42.50-67.50.

It’s the season for giving, and local comedian Guy Seidel presents Haha Holiday Fundraiser and Comedy show devoted to kids in need. Come enjoy a night of laughter dedicated to helping families have a very merry Christmas. $5 admission goes entirely to the families, $1 raffle tickets for prizes, and donations are highly encouraged. Let’s fill a truckload of gifts for the kids. The show is Thursday, December 8, 7pm.
