Sundance Film Festival is on, and there will be a lot happening up in Park City as well as Salt Lake. This means, in addition to a lot of film festival screenings, there will always be some big names performing at clubs in Park City. I’d tell you about them, but I think IN This Week and Salt Lake Tribune have put together a great guide you should pick up free in this week’s copy of IN This Week. Tell them Jesus sent you.

I’ll help you with the affordable and less busy options for entertainment this week.

2280 pints! is a performance by the Neta Dance Company that features 30 performers, 80 buckets, and great music. Performances are at Leona Wagner Black Box Theater inside the Rose Wagner Center at 8pm Friday and Saturday night. See a sample of the work in progress to get a sense of the performance. Tickets are only $12.

The Slippery Kittens Burlesque is holding their annual fundraiser and amateur show at Bar Deluxe, Saturday night at 10pm. Enjoy a night of music and entertainment, raffles, and a bake sale by the kitties themselves. ($10 at the door).

Brewvies is showing two great movies, absolutely free. Monday, the classic So I Married An Axe Murderer shows at 9:30pm. Wednesday, Across the Universe at 8pm. (Brewvies located at 677s 200 w.)

Teamwork, drinks, prizes, sexual innuendo, and a lot of laughs all come together at a Geeks Who Drink pub quiz. You don’t need to be a mathlete or a comic book nerd to compete at these quizzes. They’re pop-culture, history, random knowledge, music, movies, and so much more. The variety of questions ensures that everyone has a chance to win. It’s the best game in town, and happens Tuesdays at A Bar Named Sue (3928 south Highland Dr.) and The Huddle (2400 east 7200 s) at 8pm. Wednesday nights are at Piper Down (1492 south State) at 7:30pm. Thursdays at Lumpy’s Downtown (142 west Pierpont Ave) at 8pm. Check out GeeksWhoDrink.com for more information.

Music:

Not all the music this week is in Park City, and costs a small fortune. Get some blues in your Friday night with Wisebird, The Pour, Marinade at Urban Lounge (9pm $10). Saturday, head to The State Room for The Infamous Stringdusters and Toubab Krewe (9pm $22). Sunday, Mike Mains & The Branches are at Kilby Court with Discourse, and Payper Chainz. It’s a cancer benefit show, and a great lineup (7pm $12). Tuesday, Buckcherry is at Saltair with Hellyeah and All That Remains (7pm $38). Thursday, mellow out with the folk-rock/Americana sounds of James Moors and Kort McCumber at Piper Down (9pm $5).

Comedy:

John Hilder is at Wiseguys Trolley Square Friday and Saturday, shows at 7 and 9pm, tickets are $10. Every Sunday is local uncensored comedy at Mo’s Neighborhood Grill (10pm free). Tuesday night is comedy road kill at The Complex (8pm free). Save your pennies to see one of SLC’s finest, Levi Rounds at Mo’s next Friday, Jan. 28 (9:30pm $5).
