It got really cold outside, really fast. With Halloween gone, and the holidays approaching, it may seem that there aren’t as many big events happening around town. But now’s the time to get in good spirits with laughter. Here’s some of the top picks for comedy Around the SL,UT, along with the excitement of Salt Lake Design Week.

Every Friday and Saturday night at The OBT you can get your laughs at the longest-running improv show in town. Laughing Stock is an improv comedy game/performance. Tickets are $11, shows are 10pm.

Thursday, Nov 10th is the night for another round of K-Town Komedy. This monthly show has been going for over a year now, and it’s always a big hit for the attendees. Admission is only $2, and Club DJ’s has great cheap drinks. This month, Key Lewis is headlining, Jason Harvey and Aja Sicks are also performing. Hosted, as always, by Steve McInelly.

You can also see Steve at The Complex this Tuesday at the weekly Comedy Roadkill at The Complex. This is a free night of comedy each Tuesday at 8pm. A chance for open mic comics to share time with some of the more established comedians in town, and a chance for you to laugh.

Another great weekly comedy night is the Sunday Night Funnies at Mo’s Neighborhood Grill. Each Sunday at 9pm, a lineup of the most uncensored, honest, and hysterically funny comics in town take the stage. The show is free, and you should go.

You may have heard about pub quizzes, and perhaps you’ve even been to one. But if you haven’t been to a Geeks Who Drink night, you’ve not been to the best. It’s not a trivia night, it’s not a night of terrible questions ripped off from a horrible board game or cheesy game show, it’s a night of fast-paced interactive laughs with prizes. Don’t worry, this isn’t a game for mathletes, Jeopardy champions, and extreme nerds, it’s a night of pop-culture, word-play, random facts, and fun. With four nights a week, there’s no excuse not to come out and play. Quizzes wrap up at 10pm, so none of those “school night” excuses. Coming November 18, All Hail The Hypno-Quiz: An all Futurama night.

Geeks Who Drink Schedule: All quizzes start at 8pm, except Piper Down.
Monday – Devil’s Daughter 533 south 500 west
Tuesday – The Huddle 2400 east Ft. Union Blvd
Tuesday –Maggie McGee’s 6253 south Highland Drive
Wednesday – Piper Down 1492 south State Street (7:30pm, & you must arrive early)
Thursday – Lumpy’s Downtown 145 west Pierpont Ave

November 14-18th is Salt Lake Design Week. A week to raise the public awareness of the impact that all design disciplines— graphic, product, fashion, architecture, advertising, etc.—have in Utah. Workshops, exhibits, and other events throughout the week, like the opening night Live Design Tournament. Monday, November 14 you can watch designers compete and mingle in front of an audience. If you’re a designer wanting to compete, email info@sldesignweek.org. For those who love design and want to support the event, get your tickets at http://sldesignweek.org/.

Got an event you want people to hear about? Want to submit a guest post? Just lonely and need to chat? Ask Jesus for help. I’m here to make SLC more cool every day.
