Around the SL,UT June 3, 2011

June 3, 2011

Pride Festival, free tickets for Earth Fest, Iron & Wine, great lineup of music and comedy, and don’t forget the kick-off of classic movies on 35mm at Tower Theatre kicking off with Pulp Fiction this weekend. It’s time to get Around the SL,UT.

Yes, it’s Pride Fest time, and that means there are fabulous celebrations happening. The festival gates open at 4pm Saturday, and 11am Sunday. Tickets are $10. The big parade is Sunday at 10am, beginning at 400 east and 300 south, heading north to 200 south, and traveling westbound to West Temple. Friday night, head to Piper Down for their pride party (9pm) hosted by celebrity impersonator Jason Cozmo. For more great events, I couldn’t recommend anyone better than Princess Kennedy to fill you in.

Celebrate the all-new Gallivan Center at EarthFest this Saturday. Garbett Homes is presenting a day of music and celebrating living green from 4-9pm. Several acts including Cobra Starship, Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Downtown Fiction, and more will take the stage. Tickets are only $10, but for you loyal WWJDinSLC followers, I have a stash of free tickets you can pick up at Bakery & Brews in Murray (625 west 5300 south). Just tell them Jesus sent you and get a pair of tickets while supplies last.

Gutenberg! The Musical! runs June 3-19 at Egyptian Theatre in Park City. It’s been described as “Spinal Tap meets Saturday Night Live meets Waiting For Guffman.” A pair of aspiring playwrights try to get backing for their big musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. Tickets are $18-30, and you can use discount code “planb” for $15 tickets at select shows.

Only 1 week until Sketchophrenia, and tickets will sell out. Christopher Stephenson, Andrew Jensen, and Troy Taylor are not only hysterically funny, but they also follow this drunken Jesus. They’ve prepared a brand new show for their Post Theater appearances on June 11. Tickets are only $10 at Brown Paper Tickets.
